VIU Fest features activities for all ages. From science activities to face-painting, there's something for everyone.
With all these great options to choose from, you're sure to have a good time – and maybe learn something too!
Story-time, Puppets and Crafts
The View Art Gallery
Building 330
Join Professor Melissa and Professor Nicole for story-time in the View Art Gallery from 12 pm to 2 pm. Fall and Halloween-themed readings will be geared towards ages 3 to 8. All are welcome to the short readings followed by time to play with puppets and make bookmarks
Brain Waves
Prepare to discover something new in Brain Waves, where you can engage with different VIU areas of study, including Health, Education, Management, Arts and Humanities and more. Activities include:
- demonstrations, games and hands-on activities
- arts and crafts
- photo booths
- trivia
- scavenger hunt
- shop handmade seasonal goods made by students in our Workplace Essential Skills Training program
- learn how different objects interact with the air in a wind and motion station
- check out youth sports equipment available for families in need at our Play It Forward station
- learn what it takes to bring a product to market at the Mini Marketers booth

- play a clue-finding game: The Case of the Missing Parliament
Museum of Natural History
Visit the Museum of Natural History and learn about plant and animal. Entry is outside building 470.
Science Mall
With hands-on activities and fun demos at every turn, you'll want to leave plenty of time to explore the Science Mall. Activities include:
- Skeleton activity
- learn about invasive and native plants
- Halloween-themed water marbling
- computer science puzzles
- learn fish identification
- microscope exploration
- learn about rocks and minerals and growing crystals

Pumpkin Patch, presented by Telus
Get ready for Halloween
Check out our pumpkin patch and pick out a pumpkin or two to take home.
Suggested minimum donation: $2.
All proceeds from the Pumpkin Patch, presented by Telus will go into the Access Fund for students in need.

Indigenous Artists’ Market at Shq’apthut
Come gather at Shq’apthut: A Gathering Place for An Indigenous Artists’ Market featuring local artists, including

Shq’apthut is the VIU centre for ceremony and Indigenous students’ home away from home while they attend VIU.
